This week Northampton Borough Council’s cabinet members approved proposals put forward by NPH to install energy saving solar photovoltaics (PV) panels on up to 5,000 homes in the Borough.

NPH have been working with renewables specialists Saliis to develop a programme that will deliver environmental benefits for the whole community and help save tenants money on their energy bills.

The panels are installed free of charge and at no extra cost to tenants or tax payers.

The installations will be carried out by geographical area and tenants will be kept up to date by NPH and Saliis staff members throughout the process.

Mike Kay, NPH Chief Executive said “This initiative is a fantastic opportunity to tackle fuel poverty in Northampton. In the initial phase up to 5,000 households will benefit from reduced energy bills and at the same time we will significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the homes we manage. To be able to deliver such meaningful benefits at no extra cost to tenants or tax payers is something I am really excited about.”

Kirk Rogers, Executive Director at Saliis said: “We are delighted to get the go ahead to start delivering cheaper, greener energy to the people of Northampton. We have already successfully delivered a number of similar projects and been thrilled with the genuine benefits a programme like this can bring to communities. We are also open to enquiries from neighbouring homeowners who could be included in the programme of work.”
