Garden Competition Categories

Thinking of entering NPH's Garden Competition this year, but want to know more about the categories?

There are 6 categories to choose from:

Best Garden

A popular category. Last year's winner shared with us a beautiful bed full of colours, a calm and quiet garden with a formal lawn. The judges were particularly impressed with the quality of the Begonias in the hanging baskets on the wall.

Best Small Garden

Aimed at smaller gardens, this is a new category for this year. Whether you have a selection of pots or a small lawn to show off, this could be perfect for you!

Best Indoor Garden

New for this year is the Best Indoor Garden. If you live in a flat and have lovingly cared for a window display or selection of house plants we'd love to hear from you.

Most Sustainable Garden (including Fruit and Veg)

This category is created from last year's Environmentally Friendly Garden and Best Fruit and Veg Patch. Does your garden have something about it that is helping the environment? Are you using water butts to collect water? Is your garden bee friendly? Have you taken on the challenge of growing your own fruit and veg? This is the category for you.

Best Community Garden

Aimed at groups of people who look after a garden that is shared by residents or a community group. This is your category to show us what you can do.

Best Young Gardener (Under 16s)

Last year's winner grew tomatoes, pumpkins and strawberries from seed. This category is only open to young people under 16 years of age.
