A new lottery funded playpark was unveiled on Friday 2 September in Goldings, set to benefit local residents and children. The park was funded by Growing Together, one of the 150 Big Local Programmes which is overseen by an all resident Community Partnership. The Community Partnership identified the play park as a priority in response to huge demand from Goldings residents during Growing Together's community consultations last year.

There was a very high turn-out for the event, with almost two hundred local children and parents visiting to try out the park’s new facilities, have their face painted, and meet Steve the Magician (and balloon modeller).

The park, which is located off Goldings Road, is a welcome addition for local residents providing a secure area nearby for children to play and have fun.

Andrea McAuliffe, Chair of Growing Together’s Community Partnership Board said,

'It was so good to see so many people coming together for the opening of the Goldings Play Area. Not just children but Mums, Dads, Grandparents and other family members.

“There was so much happiness from the families that there was a play area within the Goldings area. To see the children playing freely in a safe environment was a joy to witness”.

Growing Together is supported by a local partner organisation, Blackthorn Good Neighbours, who run the Blackthorn Family Centre and support the programme with financial management and legal support services.
