Tenants at Abbey, Devonshire and Melbourne House had a surprise visit from Northampton Saints players Jamie Elliott and Tom Kessell to mark the first stage of Northampton Partnership Homes’ Abbey Street block improvement project. NPH, St James Ward Councillor and NPH Board member, Rufia Ashraf and Abbey Street residents have worked together to launch the much needed refurbishment to the blocks.  Work has started to replace windows, install energy saving insulation and improve the appearance of communal areas.

Cllr Ashraf said: “We are delighted that work to the Abbey Street blocks has been prioritised. By the time they are finished, the 3 blocks will look very modern and contemporary.  Scaffolding went up in January 2016 and completion is due later in the summer. Residents are extremely pleased that their views and concerns have been taken into account".

Paul Yates, Project Manager for Keepmoat said,

“We’re pleased to be working in partnership with NPH on this project. The works are really going to make a difference to the homes for residents. Not only will they be warmer and more energy efficient but the exterior of the homes will also receive a face lift.”

Abbey Street residents and committed Saints fans Lesley Brett, Gloria Ann Richardson and Keith Bennett mentioned how helpful and friendly both NPH and Keepmoat staff on site have been.

The Abbey Street project is part of an ambitious programme of planned work we plan to deliver over the next two years.  Regular updates will be posted on our website.
